Title: Our Mothers' Names
Rating: K+ (I think. Should I have rated it T?)
Summary: There are only two people who can tell you the truth about yourself: an enemy who has lost his temper and a friend who loves you dearly. A follow-up to Her Name. Still canon-compliant, because I think things were too easily solved during Southern Raiders. Something else had to have happened for Katara to forgive Zuko so easily. Mostly it's the two of them talking about things that they should have talked about on screen, some good-old fashioned brawling, and a little growing up on both their parts. Katara/Zuko friendship, implied attraction. Why? Because you can't go straight from enemies to lovers. Somewhere in between, you have to learn how to be friends.
Excerpt:Despite herself, Katara choked back a laugh. "I see where Azula gets it from. But," she continued, still determined to speak her piece, "It's not an excuse for what you did. People have choices. They might have good motivations at the time, but that doesn't mean that they're not wrong. You can't turn away from doing the right thing just because it's hard."
"No. It's not an excuse. But I hope it helps you understand why I've done the things I've done." There was a note of pleading to his voice now. "I think about it every day. I wish so, so much that I could go back and fix things. Save Aang. Save my uncle. Save you."
She raised an eyebrow. "Save me from what?"
He shrugged, and took the hand that he'd pressed to his face into both of his. "I don't know. I sort of feel like I should have saved you, somehow."

I have been re-reading some action/adventure/romance Zutara - like Ozai's Vengeance - and I'm still in the mood for more in that sort of direction. Except does anyone know a good story that involves the Blue Spirit, or the Painted Lade, or better yet - both?

I’ve been in the mood for reading some action/adventure/romance Zutara, but I’m being very impatience in my search. Mostly because it seems that I have to get a few chapters of Aang/Katara to get to any action/adventure/romance Zutara, and I really don’t want to read about them. I personally don’t think that Aang/Katara need to be taken care of before we can get to Zutara.
So I’m basically looking for fics that have some adventure that bring Zuko and Katara to work together and then leads to romance. Thanks for your help. |
